Prof. Ekaterina Shamonina reached excellent results in plasmonics and waves in metamaterials. She is certainly among the leaders in the field. I remember how my teacher, Alexey Abrikosov, told me long time ago: "In fact women are not less clever as man. They just have less time for science". I do not know how much time for science Ekaterina had but she had sufficient time for many things - science, teaching and family. I wish her successes and happiness.
