Honoring Dr. Mala Mateen

As a PhD student at UA's College of Optical Sciences, studying adaptive optics, Mala showed me what it really meant to "learn from one's student". Her whole approach was, and remains, one of resolve and commitment. She poured passion into her science and her studies, while at the same time becoming a new mother. Now at the US Air Force Research Lab, running her own research programs, she is a delightful and inspiring colleague, continuing to share her great joy in life and science.
