Malgorzata Kujawinska was my first mentor at work and she introduced me to many fascinating topics in optical testing; she demonstrated an infectious enthusiasm for science; she taught me the importance of collaboration, especially across borders; and she shared with me the fun of making new friends in scientific circles. Even after so many years, we still keep in touch and look forward to seeing each other at various conferences. I am very grateful for her influence on and guidance in my life.
