Honoring Adriana H. Aceves
Southern Methodist University

Submitted by Dr. Alejandro B. Aceves, OSA Fellow Southern Methodist University

I met Adriana in 1977, when we were Physics undergraduate students at UNAM, Mexico. In 1981 we bacame partners for life and continued our journey into family and science. Remarkably, we both did our graduate studies in Applied Math doing nonlinear optics research at the U of Arizona. She did all this with great mentors, none of which were female; never made it an issue. She has dedicated her life to family and teaching mathematics and has been an inspiration to hundreds of students and to me.
