Honoring Katharine Blodgett Gebbie

For more than two decades, Katharine Gebbie was director of the Physics and Physical Measurement Laboratories of NIST of which I am a member. Famous for her philosophy of finding good scientific leaders, providing support, and letting them go, she also always recognized the important contributions of all of the people in the Laboratories. She was an outstanding leader and as I was fortunate learn, a very fine person - someone I just enjoyed being around.
