Emil Wolf set the standard for graduate student advising. His daily routine included a couple of stops in the student office and usually lunch with us. At the time I thought it was just how things were done. Today, as I try to schedule time a few times a week to see my students, I am simply in awe. The quantity of time he shared with me was matched by the quality. Every day I learned something I learned something that changed my worldview and made me a better person.
