Prof. Steve Brueck advised/mentored me in my PhD (as his 1st-grad student) and also as post-doctoral fellow. He established CHTM and as director built a great center at the Univ of New Mexico, Albuquerque. Our work from high-sensitivity photo-acoustic spectroscopy to co-invention of 'Resonant Periodic-Gain Lasers (now known as VCSELs)' are great memories. Being a fine & accomplished scientist & engineer, his friendly, patient and caring personalty has great positive impact on me and many others.
