I would like to honor and thank my former mentor and father of adaptive optics in ophthalmology, Josef Bille, Professor of Physics at the University of Heidelberg, who inspired me to get into the field of optics. His enthusiasm for his work was truly infectious. I had at first been a student actually interested into going into psychology, but it was after taking a course with Prof. Bille in biomedical optics and lasers in ophthalmology, that I then saw the light…
