Prof. Kimerling (Kim) has been my guide and guru during my 20 year research career at MIT. He introduced me to Silicon Microphotonics, a field he pioneered. Sharp as a tack, his incisive questioning leads one right to the heart of a research problem, a publication, or a presentation. His feedback is legendary, and nobody misses this opportunity of being put through the wringer! He has always been a kind and generous mentor - very kind at heart and extremely generous with his time and wisdom.
