Honoring Jack Taylor, deceased
Rhodes College
Submitted by William McCluney, PhD University of Central Florida, ret.
Dr. Taylor wasn't exactly a mentor (because my early grades weren't sufficient for that kind of attention), but he did start me on a career in optics. A masterful lecturer in physics and optics, giving powerful in-class demonstrations and complete dedication to the science of optical physics, Taylor inspired me to pursue the subject through two more degrees, a brief career in optical oceanography for NASA, and a 40 year career in solar optical system design at the University of Central Florida.
