Richard is an impressive person who always tries to inspire his colleagues, providing useful advice on what directions we should focus our research efforts. He is an experimentalist with very good theoretical knowledge of photonics. He is also a very humane person, being always friendly and helping people through their worst moments. His impressive capacity to travel around the world allowed him to spread photonics in different parts of the world.
