It is my honor to recognize my mentor, my friend, and my thesis advisor (while at Oklahoma State University), Dr. Richard C Powell, Emeritus VP for Research and Professor at the University of Arizona. Dick taught me about the need for thorough and repeatable research, integrity in life, and the value of giving back to the profession, to students and to society. Finally, the long term friendship with both he and his wife Gwen have illustrated that relationships don't end with graduation.
