George was a mentor for generations of colleagues at NRC and around the world, and he had an enduring influence on the development of the field of optical coatings. Even after his official retirement in 1991, George continued to go to work twice a Week, contributing to scientific projects and mentoring younger colleagues. In addition to his scientific qualities, George was an exceptional human being, very humble about his achievements, and truly dedicated to help others in any ways.
