Current Programs & Funds
OSA Foundation donors inspire young minds, support today's optics and photonics students, and recognize excellence. Our programs are created and funded by the generosity of individuals and companies within the community.
Without your donations, we cannot do the important work and have the impact we do.
The OSA Foundation’s Annual Fund supports our impactful programs designed to inspire the next generation of scientists. 100% of donor funds are currently used for program support, not administrative expenses.
The OSA Explore Optics education outreach kit offers a unique hands on optics experience for children, teens, and adults. The kit is designed to allow parents and educators to lead activities and demonstrations that allow students to explore the many differnt properties of light. If you purchased an International Year of Light (IYL) Light Blox Kit in 2015 this kit provides additional experiments and equipment to expand the opportunities and fun!
The Siegman International School on Lasers brings together up to 100 of the world’s brightest graduate students each year to learn from academic and industry leaders.
This program will honor the legacy of Thomas F. Deutsch and his work in Biomedical optics. Each year, one young professional will be selected for a Fellowship at the Wellman Center for Photomedicine in Boston, MA, USA.
The OSA Traveling Lecturer Program provides funding for Student Chapters and Local Sections to host a guest speaker of their choosing annually. Funding will help double the number of lectures that can engage with the community.
