Milestones

Since our establishment in 2002, we have funded over 320 programs and awarded 800+ grants, scholarships and prizes that have benefited thousands of individuals in more than 55 countries.

  • The OSA Foundation celebrates 10 years of providing grants and programs that inspire the next generation of scientific innovators
  • The Sang Soo Lee Award was established to recognize outstanding leadership in founding or growing the optics and photonics community locally
  • The Michael S. Feld Biophotonics Award was established to recognize individuals for their innovative and influential contributions to the field of biophotonics, regardless of their career stage
  • Exceeded fundraising campaign to fully fund the Paul A. Bonenfant Memorial Scholarship.  This scholarship will enable undergraduate students enrolled in engineering and/org physical science programs to attend semester-abroad programs offered through their accredited college or university

  • Collaboration with the Rochester Museum and Science Center
    in support of “Light Here | Light Now”
  • Thousands of telescopes distributed to students around the
    globe through the “Galileoscope Challenge”
  • Greater Milwaukee Foundation awarded OSAF a grant

  • New OSAF website launched
