“The volunteer opportunities presented by my Young Professionals Program involvement have boosted my career in ways I couldn't have imagined. I am reviewing journal manuscripts, involved in conference committees and technical groups, and have started blogging for OSA.”

– Arlene Smith, 2014 OSA Outstanding Young Professional

"I served on the Applied Industrial Optics committee. It was a wonderful experience. The chairs gave me the opportunity to manage the imaging section of the conference. I invited six prominent speakers from the industry and academia, and presided at three technical sessions. The chairs elected me to serve as a program chair for 2013 AIO. All of this would not have been possible had it not been for OSA's Young Professionals program!"
