Technical Communities


Technical Divisions

OSA currently has six broad technical divisions, each comprised of several specialized technical groups designed to unite members with colleagues and leaders within their subfield of optics and photonics. Joining an OSA Technical Group ensures that you will receive updates on OSA meetings, publications, activities and networking opportunities tailored to your areas of interest.

All OSA Members may select up to five technical groups when they join or renew their membership. Current members can also update their technical group selections at any time by updating their profile in My Account.

With the support of the Board of Meetings, OSA implemented a Technical Group Development Pilot Program in 2013 with the purpose of finding the best structure to raise the level of engagement within the technical groups. The groups included in the original pilot program are listed below. During 2013 this core group was expanded, and all of OSA's 43 technical groups now operate under the structure established by these pilot groups.
