The Optical Society's Renewable Energy and the Environment Congress highlights the role of optics in energy generation and conservation.

The editors of the Optical Society's (OSA) open-access journal Optics Express recently published a special focus issue on "Collective Phenomena in Photonic, Plasmonic and Hybrid Structures."

For 95 years, the optical science community has been gathering to discuss the latest advances in all areas of the field of optics and photonics at OSA’s Annual Meeting, Frontiers in Optics (FiO).

The Optical Society (OSA) is pleased to announce that its members have elected Philip H. Bucksbaum of Stanford University as its 2012 vice president. Three directors at large were also chosen during this year's election: James D. Kafka of Spectra-Physics, Byoung Yoon Kim of the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), and Jun Ye of the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology and the University of Colorado.

The Optical Society (OSA) today announced the launch of a new "Internship Gateway" to its job board website, WORKinOPTICS.com. The site, which already helps connect optics and photonics companies to job seekers, will provide a new path for students to gain real-world experience in their chosen fields.
