The organizers of LaserFest, the celebration in 2010 commemorating the 50th anniversary of the first working laser, together with the National Museum of American History co-hosted a special event Feb. 12 at the museum in Washington to honor those who have made significant contributions to the development and application of laser technology.

The Optical Society (OSA) is pleased to announce that Optics InfoBase, its online library of journals, co-published journals and conference proceedings, has added the Journal of the Optical Society of Korea (JOSK) to its content offerings

The scholarship, which honors optics manufacturing pioneer Harvey Pollicove, is given to an outstanding student pursuing a degree in the field of precision optics manufacturing. Schwertz is currently working toward a master’s degree in optical sciences at the University of Arizona’s College of Optical Sciences.

The 2010 Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exhibition/National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC/NFOEC) – the world’s leading international conference for optical communications and networking professionals – will feature three premier optics and telecommunications industry leaders.
