The Optical Society (OSA) today commended President Barack Obama for his commitment to research and development (R&D), innovation, and technology in this week’s State of the Union address.

The Optical Society (OSA) today announced the launch of Optics & Photonics CONNECT (O&P CONNECT), an online resource that provides unique content and applications to those with an interest in optics and photonics.

The OSA Foundation (OSAF) has announced the launch of a fundraising campaign to establish the Paul Anthony Bonenfant Memorial Scholarship. The Foundation aims to successfully achieve its fundraising goal by this spring so that the scholarship program can be formally in place and ready for student applicants by year-end.

Researchers from OFS Laboratories in Somerset, N.J., have developed a precise and efficient way to create microresonators by making nanoscale changes to the diameter of normal optical fiber.
