The Optical Society Launches New Conference Paper and Video Interface for OSA Meetings

Improved Accessibility and Discoverability Are Key Features of New Offering

WASHINGTON — The Optical Society (OSA) has developed a new integrated search and browse interface for OSA Meetings to display all of the conference video presentations captured during its 40 plus annual meetings alongside the associated conference papers.  The new interface, which launched today with more than 1600 conference videos from OSA Meetings held in 2020, provides readers with options for easily discovering, reading, seeing and hearing the pioneering work presented by leaders in the optics and photonics field.

“OSA is committed to continually developing and delivering new innovative products and services that meet the changing needs of our global community,” said OSA CEO, Elizabeth Rogan. “The launch of this integrated conference paper and video interface on the OSA Publishing platform ensures that everyone in the optics and photonics field can stay connected with and informed of the high-quality research being presented at OSA Meetings at a time and location that is convenient for them.”

The new interface includes:

  • More than 150K conference papers and 5K video presentations from OSA Meetings.
  • A scrollable gallery of conference video highlights on the home page as well as video galleries specific to individual meetings—enabling users to quickly discover the latest video presentations.
  • Subtitles on each video presentation—so that those who are hearing impaired or who speak a different language have a text option when viewing each video.
  • Significantly improved accessibility and discoverability—as a result of video icons and more intuitive search and browse options.

All 2020 conference videos will be freely available to the community to view until 30 June 2021, at which time the conference videos will be available via a subscription.  For more information on the new conference video interface, visit the OSA Publishing Digital Library or email OSA Publishing Customer Service at elec@osa.org.
