OIDA Virtual Workshop on Developments in Co-Packaging Technologies for Data Centers

Highly-Anticipated Event will Address Integration of Photonic Functionality into Data Center Roadmaps

WASHINGTON – Photonics technologies have been shown to address some of the emerging challenges with data centers. But widespread deployment is still impeded by significant technical, manufacturing and cost barriers. An OSA Industry Development Associates (OIDA) virtual workshop, to be held 30 - 31 March 2021, will review issues embedded photonics must overcome to be considered a viable mass market technology.

Leading decision makers overseeing the development of next generation data centers, photonic companies and service providers will be among the invited speakers. Talks will highlight new innovative products and advanced manufacturing services to meet emerging technology and cost requirements. Attendees will have an opportunity to engage with speakers during the interactive panel sessions.

“This premier event is designed to find solutions to current challenges with embedded photonics for enhanced connectivity between servers, memory, and computational systems,” said Prof. Peter O’Brien, 2021 OIDA Workshop Planning Committee member and Head of Group - Photonics Packaging & Systems Integration, Tyndall Institute, Ireland. “Co-packaging of photonics and electronics is a viable path towards increasing bandwidth and operational efficiencies in data centers.”

The virtual workshop is tailored for business development directors, component manufacturers, optical systems developers and managers, assembly and test equipment vendors, semiconductor manufacturers, venture investors and market analysts. Sponsors include PIXAPP and Go!Foton.

This will be the 10th in a series of OIDA workshops on topics important to the commercialization of new optical communications components and equipment. The manufacture of integrated photonics is considered the next platform for optical communications.

Registration is now open. Members of the working press may attend the OIDA Workshop free of charge. Register by contacting: oida@osa.org
