Serial Entrepreneur and Laser Pioneer, Jason Eichenholz, to Deliver OSA Light the Future Keynote

The role of optics and phontonics in the vehicles of tomorrow will be presented in this public lecture hosted at the OSA Imaging Congress

 
WASHINGTON – The Optical Society (OSA), the leading global professional association in optics and photonics, will host the latest ‘Light the Future’ speaker series on 26 June, 8:00 – 9:00 A.M. ET during OSA’s Imaging Congress in Orlando, Florida. Co-founder and CTO of Luminar Technologies and a Fellow of The Optical Society, Jason Eichenholz will detail the critical role optics will play in shaping the future of navigation, passenger experience and the ultimate safety of the autonomous trip. 

Over the past twenty-five years, Eichenholz has led in the development of hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of new photonics products. Prior to his position at Luminar, Eichenholz was the CEO and founder of Open Photonics, an open innovation company dedicated to the commercialization of optics and photonics technologies. Prior to that, he served as the Divisional Technology Director at Halma PLC. In that role, he was responsible for supporting innovation, technology and strategic development for the Photonics and Health Optics Divisions. Before joining Halma, he was the CTO and Board Member of Ocean Optics, Inc. as well as the Director of Strategic Marketing at Newport/Spectra-Physics.

Eichenholz has a M.S. and Ph.D in Optical Science and Engineering from CREOL – The College of Optics and Photonics at the University of Central Florida and a B.S. in Physics from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

The Light the Future speaker series was created during The Optical Society’s Centennial in 2016 to highlight the optical sciences in our everyday lives. Speakers have included visionaries, futurists and Nobel Laureates.
