The Optical Society Announces 2017 Ambassadors
With global representation from academia and industry, OSA ambassadors are emerging leaders
in optics and photonics
WASHINGTON — The Optical Society (OSA) is pleased to announce nine new OSA Ambassadors for 2017. The OSA Ambassador program launched in 2016 to foster professional development and advocacy among early career professionals in the field of optics and photonics. OSA Ambassadors provide career advice, technical knowledge and mentorship through serving as a traveling lecturer for student chapters and local sections, supporting professional development events at local OSA meetings and engaging with their local communities.
“The OSA Ambassador Program was developed during our Centennial year as a way to further develop the skills of emerging early career professionals in our field,” stated Chris Dainty, Centennial Advisory Panel Chair, 2011 OSA President and Professor, University College London, UK. “As a society, OSA will continue to invest in this program and identify stand out early career professionals as the next leaders of our society.”
