OSA Launches New Meeting on Advanced Solid State Lasers
WASHINGTON, Sept. 11, 2012 – The Optical Society (OSA) today announced the launch of a new annual Advanced Solid State Lasers Congress (ASSL). The event combines OSA’s Advanced Solid State Photonics (ASSP), Advances in Optical Materials (AIOM), and Fiber Lasers and Applications (FILAS) Topical Meetings into a comprehensive conference and exhibition. Beginning in October 2013, ASSL will be the leading venue for information exchange on recent advances in solid state materials-based lasers, nonlinear optical devices, associated technologies, and applications.
“With the introduction of this new congress, OSA is providing the only international conference of its kind covering sources, materials and applications in one venue,” said OSA CEO Elizabeth Rogan. “The meeting offers an opportunity to discuss and showcase the full spectrum of these technologies—from initial R&D to market dissemination. OSA looks forward to bringing the dynamic fields of solid-state and fiber lasers together and providing added value to our comprehensive meetings portfolio.”
ASSL will gather laser industry leaders from a variety of sectors including manufacturing, distributors, government and academia. Participants will examine innovations in solid state laser technologies and issues in the field such as how to improve effectiveness of existing technologies, how to decrease performance shortfalls, and increase market penetration. The congress will also include a tradeshow exhibition showcasing the latest solid state and fiber laser technology and applications from across the globe. The inaugural meeting will be held Oct. 27- Nov. 1, 2013 in Paris.
