Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology Student Receives Travel Grant to OSA Renewable Energy and the Environment Congress

WASHINGTON, Nov. 20- The OSA Foundation (OSAF) is pleased to announce Dmitry S. Bodunov of the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology in Russia was this year’s recipient of a travel grant to the Optical Society’s (OSA) Renewable Energy and the Environment Congress that took place Nov. 11-14 in Eindhoven, The Netherlands. The OSAF Student Travel Grant Program is designed to provide career development opportunities by assisting students who wish to attend conferences and meetings. The grants are given to students working or studying science in qualifying developing nations so they can attend OSA-managed technical meetings and conferences.

Bodunov received $1,000 USD in travel support to attend the Solid State and Organic Lighting (SOLED) meeting, focused on all aspects of solid state lighting ranging from new material development and device physics to the design of efficient luminaire optics. He was selected by the co-chairs of the co-located topical meetings that make up the Congress.

Travel Grant applications are judged on the following criteria:

  • Work or study in a qualifying developing nation
  • Enrollment in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program
  • Demonstrated need for travel support
  • Statement on the value of attending the conference

More information on the Student Travel Grant Program is available on the OSAF website. More information regarding Renewable Energy and the Environment Congress can be found on the OSA website.
