Students Receive Incubic/Milton Chang Travel Grants to Present Papers at CLEO: 2011
WASHINGTON, April 28 – The OSA Foundation is pleased to announce the 10 recipients of this year’s Incubic/Milton Chang Student Travel Grants, endowed by Milton and Rosalind Chang. The recipients will present their papers at the Conference on Lasers and Electro-Optics (CLEO: 2011) to be held May 1 – 6 in Baltimore. The 10 students, representing seven different countries, were selected from more than 50 applicants. The grants are awarded annually to a total of 20 students who will present their papers during CLEO: 2011 or the Optical Society’s (OSA) Annual Meeting, Frontiers in Optics (FiO).
The following students were awarded grants to present their work at CLEO: 2011:

- Gilad Lerman, Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel

- Devin Pugh-Thomas, University of Virginia, United States
- Peng Sun, Ohio State University, United States
- Yuze Sun, University of Michigan, United States
- Alessandro Tuniz, University of Sydney, Australia
- Bora Ung, Ecole Polytechnique de Montreal, Canada
Grant applications are reviewed by the Awards & Grants Subcommittee of OSA’s Membership and Education Services Council. Students’ paper submission, financial need and letters of recommendation are all carefully reviewed during the selection process. The grants cover travel-related expenses to attend and present at CLEO: 2011 and FiO.
