OSA Launches Spotlight on Optics to Highlight Research Articles in OSA Journals
WASHINGTON, July 20—The Optical Society (OSA) today announced the launch of a new interactive Webpage called Spotlight on Optics.Accessible through OSA’s database of journal articles, Optics InfoBase, Spotlight on Optics initially will highlight and summarize select research articles from OSA flagship journals. Content will be updated on a regular basis to keep readers informed of the timeliest research being reported in the field of optics and photonics.
“With the launch of Spotlight on Optics, OSA will now be able to call attention to some of the critical new developments in optics and photonics research,” said OSA CEO Elizabeth Rogan. “Identified by journal editors, these Spotlight papers will not only emphasize key research, but the online forum will provide an interactive platform for those in the optics community to discuss today’s prominent research news.”
Spotlight articles are selected by the editors of each journal to show the breadth and quality of the journals’ content. Editors identify articles that have excellent scientific quality, are representative of the level of work taking place in a specific area, and provide perspective on related work in the field. Each Spotlight article will be made open access and be accompanied by original summaries and multimedia, if applicable. In addition, readers will be able to post comments to the Spotlight page, creating a dialogue between the author and the reader, and among readers.
