Sean R. Bagshaw Joins OSA as Chief Information Officerr
WASHINGTON, January 9—The Optical Society (OSA) announced today that Sean R. Bagshaw has joined its staff as chief information officer (CIO). In this position, Bagshaw will oversee the information technology department and work with the executive team to enhance innovative technology at OSA.
As CIO, Bagshaw will be responsible for providing the vision, leadership, planning and management of all technology operations, technology infrastructure, security systems, association management systems, communication and data networks, software development and applications services providers. He will be accountable for maintaining all of the data and electronic media of the organization.
In this capacity, Bagshaw will serve as a member of OSA’s executive team, providing strategic direction and vision for all of the society’s technology initiatives. He will develop and lead the execution of a long-term technology plan to support OSA’s products and services.
“The role of OSA’s chief information officer is to not only ensure that the technologies we use on a day-to-day basis are the most appropriate, efficient technologies to suit our specific needs, but also to make certain that these technologies address the future needs of the organization and its members,” said Elizabeth Rogan, OSA Executive Director. “Sean’s expansive knowledge of cutting-edge technology along with his proven leadership skills will ensure that OSA stays at the forefront of technology innovation.”
Bagshaw has more than 20 years of experience in non-profit, healthcare and technology services industries. Most recently, Bagshaw was vice president and chief technology officer (CTO) of the Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA). There he implemented new cost- and time-saving technologies while maintaining the integrity and security of the association’s network infrastructure. He also designed a new “green” data center to support MBA’s technology infrastructure.
Prior to this role, Bagshaw was vice president of engineering and operations at Oleran Net Solutions. His work there earned Oleran the recognition of being named “Top 25” by the Baltimore Business Journal in March of 2000.
Bagshaw holds a bachelor of science in computer science with a minor in accounting from Siena College in Loudonville, N.Y. He also is proficient in countless technologies ranging from association-specific products and management systems to those that address business programs and network infrastructure.
