Lambda Research Corporation to Participate in SPIE Photonics West 2016

Littleton, MA, USA, February 8, 2016 – Lambda Research Corporation, the leading designer and manufacturer of illumination and optical design software, announces its participation in the SPIE Photonics West Trade Show & Conference, Booth #501, at The Moscone Convention Center from February 16-18, 2016 in San Francisco, CA. In addition, the company will be offering live demonstrations of the latest release of TracePro, version 7.7, their flagship product as well as two free live BSDF measurements(a $2,000 value) using the ScatterScope 4. Bring your measurement samples to Photonics West for free BSDF measurements. Optics and photonics design engineers, researchers, and students attending the show are encouraged to bring their latest projects and experience a real-time demo using their designs.

The ScatterScope 4 by ScatterMaster is a new concept in high-speed scatter measurement metrology. It features an easy-to-use interface in a portable package that delivers full hemispherical BSDF measurements in a few minutes. Designed by a leading team of scatter experts including renown Dr. John Stover, this device offers unparalleled performance with accurate measurement in 1/10 the time that current industrial scatterometers take for in-plane measurements.

New features in TracePro 7.7 are a new Candela plot viewer and an Automotive lighting toolkit. The new Candela viewer allows users to view previously saved angular plots and simulation mode ray-traces, giving users access to the luminous intensity or flux per solid angle of previous designs. Depending on user selections in the Candela Options dialog box, TracePro considers incident rays, exiting rays, or flux that misses all the model geometry during the ray trace as Candela data. The new Automotive lighting toolkit gives TracePro users a fully featured toolkit to analyze automotive lighting systems specifically headlamps, tail lamp, warning and marker lamps in regards to ECE, SAE and FMVSS standards. The toolkit provides visualization tools and regulation tables to certify that simulated results meet the various automotive standards and provides pass/fail criteria for each regulation.

Also in this release are improvements to the photorealistic rendering capability by enhancing contrast viewing with a gamma slider and display of luminance values, as well as faster renderings for Low and Medium quality settings. These improvements to photorealistic renderings enable designers to have a more accurate, three-dimensional visualization of the output performance of their luminaire or light pipe design.

Lastly, this latest version makes better use of internal memory on computer workstations by enabling users to choose whether they would like to use Simulation or Analysis Modes for ray tracing. This flexibility enables users to rapidly and accurately simulate results in less time and with minimal use of system resources. TracePro in Analysis mode is, and has always been, the only optical software program to automatically compute and keep track of every intersection of light with a surface. For users who want maximum results and full control of the full ray tracing process, Analysis Mode allows them to track every ray intersection with a surface, visualize rays per user-defined criteria, and plot 3D irradiance/illuminance on every user-selected surface. Simulation mode on the other hand, only remembers ray intersections on those surfaces denoted by the user as important, which uses a great deal less memory and allows users to trace billions of rays if necessary.

TracePro offers the most powerful and sophisticated illumination design software available for LED implementation into lamps and luminaires. TracePro streamlines the prototype-to-manufacturing process by combining an intuitive 3D CAD interface, superior ray-tracing performance, advanced utilities, and seamless interoperability with other mechanical design programs.
