The Optical Society Joins with 100+ Scientific Organizations to March for Science

The leading professional organization for scientists, engineers, students and entrepreneurs in the science of light join with others to advocate for science education and policy

WASHINGTON — The Optical Society (OSA) today announces plans to support the March for Science, which is scheduled for Saturday, 22 April. OSA will join the 100+ organizations which are formally participating in the March for Science. Satellite marches are being planned in parallel around the world and OSA will support members who want to participate, wherever the march is located.

“OSA’s goal for the March for Science is to use this unique opportunity to connect with the public on the importance of science and the importance of evidence-based research and collaboration,” said Elizabeth Rogan, CEO of The Optical Society. “It’ll be a wonderful celebration of the scientists and engineers that drive the discoveries we benefit from today, plus inspire the next generation with the exciting possibilities this field offers.”

OSA is joining our members and other supporters to exemplify the importance of partnerships formed between scientists and the broader community around the world. The activities, collectively known as the March for Science, provide a unique opportunity to show the value of scientific advancement.
