OSA Co-Sponsors Capitol Hill Briefing on Women in STEM Careers
OSA was one of 17 co-sponsors of a recent caucus briefing event on Capitol Hill called "STEM Education, Girls, and the Challenges that Follow: From the Classroom to STEM Careers."
The July 18, 2007 briefing, in cooperation with the Congressional Caucus for Women’s Issues and the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) Education Caucus, focused on trends and statistics on women entering STEM careers and the challenges of gaining and retaining female scientists and engineers in the U.S.
Presenters included:
Jacquelynne S. Eccles, Ph.D., McKeachie Collegiate Professor of Psychology and research professor, Institute for Research on Women and Gender and the Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan, who summarized her research on girls and STEM education. To view her presentation, click here.
