OSA Partners with Absolute Zero and the Conquest of Cold Campaign

WASHINGTON, Nov. 8 – The Optical Society of America (OSA) is offering a new opportunity for its members to become involved in a U.S.-based national educational program designed to create awareness of low-temperature physics and inspire the next generation of scientists. The Absolute Zero and the Conquest of Cold campaign is looking for volunteer experts in the field of low-temperature physics to serve as mentors, speakers or participants in community and educational events.

The program is part of an educational campaign coinciding with the multi-series documentary Absolute Zero and the Conquest of Cold.  This PBS documentary explores how civilization has been profoundly affected by the mastery of cold and is slated to air in 2007. OSA recently signed on as a national partner for the program.

OSA members interested in finding out more information or participating in the program should email Angela Stark, OSA’s media and government relations coordinator at astark@osa.org or call 202.416.1443.
