A block of sleeping rooms has been reserved for the convenience of the International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena attendees at the Silvertree Hotel.

The meeting rates are:

Attention Nationals and Citizens of Visa Waiver Program countries:

Letters of Invitation:

The application process for an international visa can take up to six months or more. You will need to apply for your visa as early as possible, but no later than three months before you wish to enter the US.

One factor that increases the processing time is the personal interview, now required for most applicants as a standard part of visa processing. As soon as you know that you will need a visa for travel, you should contact the embassy or consulate to schedule an appointment for screening.

In all requests please include the following:
(When requesting letters for more than one individual, please include all information stated above for each person.)

  • Your full name as it appears on your passport
  • Your complete mailing address
  • Your phone and fax numbers
  • Indicate which meeting you will be attending
  • If you are presenting a paper, include the title and the session in which that paper will be presented
  • If you are exhibiting, please indicate that in your request
  • Individuals from China should include the passport number, the date of birth and the gender of each person requesting an invitation letter
  • Indicate which meeting you will be attending

All letters of invitation will be sent by airmail or by fax unless a Federal Express account number or credit card number with expiration date is provided on the original request. Please allow ample time for processing requests. OSA is not able to contact US or Canadian Embassies in support of an individual attempting to gain entry into the host country to attend an OSA meeting.

Weather:

Snowmass Village has approximately 300 days of annual sunshine. Summers are mild with July being the warmest month. Temperatures can vary about 30 degrees between night and day.

Standard 120v/60c voltage electricity is used in hotels.

Airline Travel

OSA has appointed American Airlines the official airlines for the International Conference on Ultrafast Phenomena in Snowmass, Colorado, July 18-23, 2010. Discounted air travel is available. Please note, American Airlines does not fly directly into Aspen/Pitkin County Airport. The closest city American Airlines serves is Colorado Springs Airport (COS) located 4 hours by car from Snowmass, CO.

Driving Directions

From the Aspen Airport

Leave the airport by the main exit/entrance and turn left (north, towards Glenwood Springs) onto Hwy. 82. Travel for approximately 2 miles. Turn left onto Brush Creek Road at the first traffic light, following signs toward Snowmass Village/Snowmass Ski Area. See “From intersection of Highway 82 & Brush Creek Road” below.

East of Aspen/ Denver

Take I-70 west to Glenwood Springs. Take Exit 116 at Glenwood Springs, follow the signs for Highway 82 (right at 1st traffic light, right again at 2nd traffic light, onto Grand Ave./ Highway 82, crossing bridge over Colorado River), toward Aspen. Follow Highway 82 for approximately 38 miles. DO NOT turn at the first sign for Snowmass (note mileage); this will take you to “Old Snowmass.” Follow the signs for Snowmass Village/Snowmass Ski Area. Turn right onto Brush Creek Road at the traffic light (just after mile marker 35), following signs toward Snowmass Village/Snowmass Ski Area. See “From intersection of Highway 82 & Brush Creek Road” below.

East of Aspen/ Alternate Denver Route

Take Colorado Highway 24 from the south or Route 91 from the north (south from Copper Mountain off of I-70 to Hwy. 24). Between Leadville and Buena Vista, turn west on Hwy. 82, crossing Independence Pass. PLEASE NOTE: Independence Pass is open only in the summer months. While it is a paved 2-lane highway, in places it is extremely narrow, winding, and exposed and should be driven cautiously. Follow Hwy. 82 through Aspen. Approximately 4 miles west of Aspen, turn left onto Brush Creek Road at the traffic light, following signs toward Snowmass Village/Snowmass Ski Area. West of Aspen/ Grand Junction

Take I-70 east to Glenwood Springs.
