The Computational Optical Sensing and Imaging (COSI) meeting consists of topics that describe theoretical and experimental progress in computational sensing and imaging research The meeting subject matter spans the areas of fundamental physics, hardware design, and numerical and analytical techniques and has led to significant improvements in the fields of imaging and sensing for medicine, defense, homeland security, and industrial inspection and testing applications COSI places particular emphasis on integrated design and analysis of joint physical layer measurement and digital layer processing-in contrast with the conventional model of a digital signal as a discretely sampled version of an underlying analog source COSI considers advanced opportunities for joint data coding and decoding in the optical, electronic and processing layers
