OSA Foundation Student Travel Grants

Robert S. Hilbert Memorial Student Travel Grant
Established in 2009 in memory of Robert S. Hilbert, President and Chief Executive Officer of Optical Research Associates (ORA), this program recognizes the research excellence of students in the areas of optical engineering, lens design and/or illumination design. Two grants of $1,100 USD will be awarded to two students presenting their work at the Imaging and Applied Optics: OSA Optics and Photonics Congress.

Applicant Criteria

  1. Applicant must be the presenter of an accepted paper; preference is given to oral presentations, but posters are eligible as well.
  2. Applicant must be an undergraduate or graduate student of an educational institution of collegiate grade who is devoting more than half-time to studies within the institution, at the time the paper was written.
  3. Accepted paper/poster must include research in the areas of optical engineering, lens design and/or illumination design.
  4. Applicants are encouraged to include graphics created using either CODE V® or LightTools®.

Application Requirements

  1. Copy of the paper abstracted submitted to the meeting
  2. Letter of support from advisor or professor
  3. Statement explaining the value of attending the meeting
  4. Your CV/Resume

Applications are due by Friday, April 20, 2011. Please email all the required documents to HilbertGrant@osa.org.
This grant program is funded through support from ORA and administered by the OSA Foundation.

Travel Grants

The OSA Foundation is pleased to offer travel grants to students working or studying in a qualify developing nation qualifying developing nation who plan to attend Imaging and Applied Optics Congress.
